Phone Calls
Please contact us if you have information to share about phone calls to and from loved ones inside San Mateo County jails.
Paper Mail
Paper mail is not allowed in San Mateo County jails. Learn more about community efforts protesting this harmful policy.
Paper mail will be scanned and uploaded onto jail tablets. Paper mail should be addressed to:

Electronic Mail
Electronic messages can be sent for 50 cents per message plus fees via SmartCommunications.
All mail is subject to search by the Sheriff’s Office.
Packages
Commissary: visit Access Corrections to order a commissary package for someone in jail.
Books: all publications – books, newspapers, magazines, periodicals, etc. – must be mailed directly from the publisher. All others will be returned to the sender. (Examples:

To put money in a loved one’s account:
Online: via the Access Corrections website.
In-person: via kiosks located in the jail lobbies.
Purchase limit is once per month, and the value may not to exceed $100.00.
